Baby Profiles

I think these images by photographer Bettina von Zwehl are so compelling!

Don't you wish you could see into those little minds and understand what they are thinking?

Joseph's 5 things

"1)      To Fall In Love With Someone Who Loves Me Just As Much As I Love Her.
2)      Solve One Worldwide Problem, However Big Or Small.
3)      Write A Widely Published Work of Fiction.
4)      Prove To The World That You Can Indeed Buy Happiness.
5)      To Live To Have The Opportunity To Make A Difference In My Grandchildren’s Lives."

If anyone can do those, it's Joseph.

*Sidenote:

Joseph is the one who taught me my favorite mantra...

Go big or go home.

He is larger than life. An endless supply of fun, fascinating and sometimes infuriating contradictions. He sort of defies description. I hope you get to meet him someday.

Do you know anyone who seems to defy the boundaries that everyone else follows? Not out of rebellion, but out of sheer determination and charisma?

I like to color inside the lines too much to be THAT person, but I sure admire people who can pull it off.

This is one of the reasons that I love IKF... When I remind him that we should color inside the lines, he says, "What lines?"

Places I've been...

OK, so this map is not mine. But I want to start a map like this, and someday I want it to look like this... except with more pins in Europe and less in Alaska.

I want to go here

Pacman Street

Apparently Pac Man is really big in the urban art and snow art communities right now.

Personally, those little ghost things give me panic attacks. Those cherries just aren't worth it.

Cry Joke

Little kids are amazing.

While in Spokane this weekend (which IS beautiful, incidently) I spent much of the time with my future niece and nephews.

Ethan likes to tell knock knock jokes that go like this...

"Knock knock!"

"Who's there?"

"SAYra"

"Sara who?"

"Don' cry, juss joke!"

IKF thinks this is the funniest thing he's ever heard. I think its endearing. I think I'm going to like being an aunt.

Shut up and kiss me

I am sure that IKF and I are a little overboard with the PDA. Sorry folks, this will not change before June.

Peas and Pineapple

Cool package design. Love the retro vibe.

Yulia Brodskaya

I think I found a new favorite artist. Yulia Brodskaya.

She combines so many things that I love... typography, paper, bright colors, words.

I've posted a few favorites here, but you can see more on her website.

Curly Man Moustache

Dear future husband (IKF, I'm talking to you) when you're 50 (and I'm still 27), will you please grow a mustache that curls at both ends and dress like this? Thank you.

Kristin's 5 things

I want to marry a man I love
I want to have a child
I want to learn how to letterpress
I want to live in the west village in manhattan
I want to go to the Greek isles and new Zealand
...beautiful. Like Kristin.

Loved

This sweet ring was designed by Nora Kogan of St. Kilda Jewelry in Brooklyn.

If you check out her website, be sure to read her amazing life story.

Spokane

Headed to Spokane this weekend for the first time. I hear its beautiful.

On Stage

This is a perfect picture of a fantasy moment for me... You know... Back when I was a kid and I thought I wanted to be a ballerina, an actress, a rockstar and an opera singer.

And it kinda reminds me of my wedding dress.

Teen Love

This is what teenagers think love is...

This is completely untrue. That insipid description is nothing like what real love actually is.

Please stop propagating these ridiculous myths.

Real love is way better than that crap.

That's what she said

HA HA HA HA HA

Be Real

Quilt Octopus

Things are cuter when they are quilted.

And have 8 arms.

Godfather Wedding Party

This image was one of the winners in the Q4 2009 WPJA contest.

I just love the Godfather look the whole things has. All I could think when I saw this image was... awesome.

Engagement Picture Preview

Whew.
We took engagment pictures on Saturday. And I still can't believe how stressful it was to get ready for them! Week before, pouring over photographer's websites, looking through engagement galleries, trying to find good colors combinations, the right outfits, the right location...

Thankfully the stress stopped the second we arrived at the library for pictures. The weather was GORGEOUS, the locations was PERFECT, and I have fun with IKF no matter what we're doing. It turned out to be great afternoon.

*Can we pause for just a second to talk about how much I love my photographer for the wedding? Her name is Stacey Bishop. She is the best kept secret in Southern California. Seriously. Check out her website and her blog.

And if you visit the blog, you'll also be able to see a preview of our engagement pictures.

(Like this one...)

(And this one...)

(Ok, this one too...)

Jane's 5 Things

Jane's 5 things...

"So here is my list! (in no particular order)
1. Go to and explore Ireland (and anywhere else for that matter)
2. Own a home
3. Have a loving family that is strong and grounded in The Church
4. Continue to make wonderful friends and stay in touch with old friends
5. Not carry my groceries home or have to walk up and down seven flights of stairs to do laundry"

You just gotta love Jane.

Wedding Monogram! (finally)

When we got the first round proof back on the wedding invitation, the monogram that they had drawn looked like something out of a cartoon... And clearly THAT wasn't happening. So, me being me, and knowing exactly what I want, and not being able to find it... I thought "Hey! I have a design firm! I should just do it myself!"
Genius, except that I am a client manager and a branding consultant, not an actual designer. Thus began the Great Monogram Adventure of 2010 in which my Adobe Illustrator skills were tested to the limit. (What are vectors?)

After hours toiling away (in the dead of winter, uphill both ways) I have emerged victorious. Ta da!

Wedding Flowers

So this wedding planning thing.. fun. All kinds of fun.

Here are some of the bouquets I like so far:

Vespa? Yes please.

Alone

Sometimes I feel like I just need to be alone and sit very still and very quiet until I feel like myself again.

Life is art

Cloud Climbing

Awesome.

Seth's 5 things

Our first featured 5 things... Seth.

"Well thats easy, my five things are;
1 Travel to Croatia and beat the national team single handedly in a water polo match
2 Go to the moon and be back for dinner
3 Meet the mad hatter
4 See every awesome band in concert
5 Become the first ever drummer/photographer/pro cyclist"

Photobooth Date Idea

Don't you just love photo booth picture series?  Capturing different expressions and moments in sequence.

This looks like such a fun date to me. Take $20 and go spend an hour at a photo booth.

You can even do searches for photo booths here.

If IKF and I ever get a free night in this lifetime (hello whitefrog launch + wedding planning), we'll try and go do this.

U is for unicorn

How cute is this alphabet from Paper Nut?

See the unicorn and the elephant?!

Letterpress Temple

How GORGEOUS is this artwork by Cameron Moll?!?

It combines three of my favorite things: Letterpress, Typography and the Temple! The original run is sold out, so I really, really hope he does another run.

There's always money in the koi pond...

Check out this Koi Pond Dollar Origami...

Hi

Love this piece also from Keep Calm Gallery.

Yeah Right

What's inside a stack doll, really?

Keep Calm is one of my new favorite sites for typographic art.
