The funniest thing happened the other day. Someone apologized to me for reading my blog.

Huh?

Yeah, aparently they found my blog through facebook, or through a link that a friend had sent them, and they wanted to know if it was ok if they read my blog, even thought I hadn't invited them to.

The answer is, by all means, OF COURSE.

I have this blog because it makes me happy. It lacks focus, it lacks a unifying theme, and I am not a creative genius sharing my brilliant ideas; but its purpose is for me to share anything that I stumble across that I find facinating, inspiring, funny or just plain happy.

And the truth is, the more followers I have, the happier it makes me! Because THAT means that more people are also laughing, being inspiried and getting happy along with me.

So please, even if I've never met you, welcome! Share the posts, share the love, invite your friends to check it out, officially declare yourself a follower and I hope the things that make me happy will make you happy to.

I am so blessed to have joined a wonderful family. Seriously. My sisters in law are so much fun, my borthers in law are the nicest guys, my mother and father in law are pinnacles of awesome-ness to which I aspire, AND I inherited a whole passel of nieces and nephews, which I've never had before. I love this!

I was so touched at how many of my family members made such an effort to attend and celebrate with us. There were last minute surprise arrivals, great sacrifices and efforts made to be there by so many people -  and in the end there was a ceremony packed with the people who love us most. Having them all there is what made the a true celebration.

Wedding Pictures - At the Alumni House

Choosing the location for our reception turned out to be more of an adventure than I thought, but when we settled on the Alumni House, I was thrilled. It was a stunning location that allowed for a lot of flexibility, plus the Hospitality Staff at the University was fabulous. Trudy Cohen was my personal super hero.

Bride. Oh, that's me.

We found my dress at an odd little story in a strip mall in Jordan, Utah. It was the last place I expected, but I luhuhuuuuved my dress. It didn't even require alterations. Not one.

TJ did my hair. He's been doing my hair since I was 15. He actually did my hair for senior prom. I love TJ.

I didn't want a veil, I didn't like the way they looked on me. The flower was perfect. It took it up a notch without making me feel silly. Plus it was hot hot hot that day, and a veil would not have been welcome.

Like wise on the jewelry - I wanted to keep it simple. Just earrrings and a bracelet. The dress spoke for itself and the shoes were a fun, surprising detail that was all the drama I needed.

Since getting married, every where I go people tell me how handsome my husband is. And I'm like... I know, I married him.

Personalized Memory Game

This looks like such a fun idea. Not to mention that I think it might be within my crafting skill range. I want to try it out and make games for my nieces and nephews. Of course, my ulterior motive is that they'll start to remember my name...

Hey, Aunt Nic! Want to do this with me next week? We could make one for the Woods and one for the Frosts... And one for Grandma's house, just for good measure. AND we can front load it with pictures of you and me so that we can continue to vie for favorite aunt.

Camp Tahquitz

My husband's family spends a significant portion of their summers working at a boyscout camp in the San Bernardino mountains. This weekend we finally made it up for a visit.

On Saturday morning, my mother-in-law made the most incredible dutch oven breakfast. Sweet bread (apparently made with orange juice?) and hash browns with sausage, bacon, bell peppers, eggs and cheese, and then these amazing little thick, savory pancakes. Delicious.

After breakfast we got to ride horses and try the climbing wall.

Roadtrip!

IKF and I are headed out for a serious roadtrip this weekend. 12 hours from Southern CA to my family's cabin in Southern Idaho, and then back down to SLC for Prybs and Denisha's wedding, then back to the cabin, then home.

I'm already pulling out old books on tape, making car mixes and looking forward to spending some time in my favorite place in the world with my fabulous husband.

Woohoo! Roadtrip!

Mario Cookies

I'm starting to think that old school Mario Brothers is something that defines my generation. At least I have the urge to leap after these cookies, even if it means jumping over a chasm of lava while being chased by animate mushrooms and flying, red-shelled turtles.
