Bananagrams

When we were in the Caymans I saw a family sitting around a table with little Scrabble tiles that came out of a banana bag. I thought it was cute that they found the little bag for the tiles. And the game they were playing looked awesome.

Then I was playing games with IKF and Co. and somebody brought out Bananagrams. And it all came together. And it is my new favorite thing ever.

I mean, its like Scrabble, but it moves faster, and it comes in a little bag shaped like a Banana.

 Can life get better? I submit that it cannot.

Yesterday morning at the gym (yes, I just used "morning" and "gym" in the same sentence, this is a new thing for me) I noticed a quote on the wall that said:

"Most experiences fall into one of two categories: Good times or good stories."

I loved it. It's kitschy and campy, this was the YMCA after all, but its mostly true, and it made me laugh to remember some of my better "stories."

Who needs sleep?

I am EXHAUSTED this week. Seriously, I don't know what is wrong with me. All I want to do is curl up in a little ball under my down comforter and sleeeeeeeeep.

Scratch that. I want to curl up in a ball under my down comforter on the couch and sleeeeeeeep on IKF's shoulder. Which is very comfortable.

So why am I up and blogging at midnight you ask? Good question. Because I have a document to finish for a client before I am allowed to sleep and I am having writers block. And blogging helps with writers block. Alot. Although it also aids in procrastination and is therefore a double edged sword.

But back to the problem at hand. What is wrong with me!?!? I welcome any theories as to the source of my freakish level of tiredness. I need to identify the source so that it can be dealt with accordingly.

And by accordingly I mean with violent force.

And yes, now I have simply progressed into 100% procrastination.

Tavi

There is this girl named Tavi. She writes a fashion blog called Style Rookie, which is, quite frankly, amazing. She was invited to Fashion Week this year. She is a remarkable writer and suprisingly sophisticated. 

I say suprising because Tavi is 13.

I barely knew how to tie my shoes at 13, let alone how to put together an outfit out of vintage old man shoes, Rodarte tights and a tulle skirt.

AHmazing.

Live Ishly

Peter Reynolds is my favorite children's author.

I didn't come across any of his books until I was in my 20's but they still made an impression.

Ish in particular is a favorite.

I LOVE stuff like this... When people take the time and make the effort to capture the stories and the characters that exists in real life. Because, when you think about, the best stories are the ones that are true... Don't you think?

More women should wear red lipstick

I love red lipstick. It's bold, colorful, classic and timeless. True confession: Sometimes after I put on red lipstick I kiss the mirror. It reminds me of a book that I must have read or a movie that I saw... Whichever it was, it makes me feel like I'm in the middle of a really good story.

The next time you need a little color in your life, go out and get Revlon's Cherries in the Snow and give the red lipstick thing a try. Next thing you know you'll be wearing red high heels. I approve.
