It's the little things...
Yesterday, I got the oil changed on my car. Today, I glanced up at the little sticker they put on the windshield and the date for my "next service" was three days after my due date. I thought, "By the time I change the oil on the car again, I will have a child."
They should put this on a bumper sticker and give it to all women as they begin their third trimester:
Motherhood, just an oil change away.

Russia
Husband and I watched Golden Eye the other day. I love all of the Russian-ness, but the film looked so dated! It made me feel just a little old.

As we end the second trimester...
Here it comes, the puffy, planet like feeling of the third trimester. I officially miss my clothes, my waist, my high heels, and my sense of grace.
There will not be enough pillows in the world to keep me comfortable at night.

Things I learned this week...
1) How to temper an egg
2) When you catch up with a good friend, it feels like you talked yesterday, even if it has actually been months.
3) This baby likes Led Zeppelin.
4) When you ask for help, amazing things happen.
5) I cannot cook things in one of those tiny little convection toaster oven things without burning them.

On being pregnant
Growing a human is hard work, and you never get to take a break.
It's kind of amazing that my body just knows how to make a person. It's like, if I had to sit down and build a baby like a craft project, it's eyebrows would be upside down and it would definitely be missing a vertebrae somewhere. But thankfully, I don't even have to think about it! I just sit here and let my body do its thing, and a baby with all of its proper bone structure and both eyebrows facing the right direction, gets made.
So baby and body just take what they need from me without asking, like little parasites. It looks like I'm just sitting here doing nothing, but in reality, I'm working non-stop. Pay no attention to those dirty dishes behind the curtain.

On marriage
People used to tell me that the first year of marriage is the hardest, and I would get kind of annoyed. What were they trying to do, scare me off? "PREPARE FOR THE NIGHTMARE! IF you survive you may live to tell the tale!" I know a lot of dramatic people.
Halfway into our third year now (Oh the vast experience!), I kind of get what they were talking about.
It's not that the first year is really so terrible, its just that the other years are so much better, that the first year seems tough by comparison.
Since this is my blog, I get to dole out wisdom, even if it isn't asked for. Marriage is awesome. It starts awesome and it gets even better. There may be one moment, in one day, every 100 days or so, that I feel like throwing dishes at him, but I don't, the moment quickly passes and we get back to the awesomeness.
So get married, stay awesome.

Heels for days
I'm looking forward to getting back into my sky-high heels after baby comes. So far I'm still wearing some heels, just not the super high ones.
