By The Bay

Friends of the blogosphere... Husband and I are planning a little trip up the coast in a few weeks and plan to spend a day in Napa and a day in San Francisco. I trust you far more than I trust random tourist websites, what are your suggestions on places to eat or things to see in the City? Do you have a favorite sandwich cafe? Macaroon shop? Do you know where to find the best view in the city?

If you have a wealth of information that is too long for the comment box, feel free to email be at sarahawsfrost@gmail.com.

You're the best. Cheers!

  1. If you have a car and some time, drive north on the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin County. That's where we lived. The lookout points for the bridge on that side are spectacular. You can drive into Sausalito and walk along shops and cafes by the water and have a beautiful view of SF across the Bay. There used to be a little farmers market there on Friday afternoons in the summer. The Sausalito Taco Shop is so yummy! For a scenic drive, head up PCH to Lucas Valley Road. You can stop at the Muir overlook for a great view or Stinson Beach to put your feet in the water. There are so many quaint little towns like Mill Valley, San Anselmo or Fairfax with cute cafes and boutiques where you can stop and stroll around. And there's Muir Woods if you want to see some Redwoods. Marin is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been! Have fun on the trip!!

  2. If it's a nice day in SF, I HIGHLY recommend renting an electric bike and riding across the Golden Gate Bridge. You might feel a little silly at first on a motorized bike, but it's so worth it! You'll enjoy your ride like nobody's business!

I'd also suggest Mama's (Washington Square) for brunch. It's a long wait, but tasty and akin to your beloved NYC brunch places.

    Have so much fun!
