Guidelines for visiting NYC
This is a great article about visiting New York City. We love tourists, we do... but the world will be a better place if you follow the few very simple guidelines outlined in the article.
Enjoy!

Use the fork Luke...
Yes, this is me, geeking out over these new Star Wars pancake molds from Williams Sonoma.

SO excited.
SO excited.
"You say 'erbs, we say herbs...
...Because there's an H in it."
I love Eddie Izzard. I always think of his commentary on the differences between American and British English when I talk about herbs.
I've been wanting to try and grow fresh herbs for awhile. IKF gave me a rose bush plant for my birthday and we got a garden gnome from my bridal shower (That's another story)... So my porch is slowly turning into something garden-esque. Perhaps now that I'm marrying and "domesticating" now is the time to try my hand at herb growing.
Black *Eiffel inspired me with these shots... I think its time.

Maplethorpe Babies
Edward Maplethorpe (younger brother to Robert) insists on photographing children when they are between 11 and 13 months old. The results are completely stunning.

Summer in the City
This is what happens on the Great Lawn in Central Park the second it gets warm... Something about cowering inside all winter while its below freezing outside inspires a mass exodus to the parks when the sun comes out.
When I saw this picture my little heart ached to be back in New York again... And then I remembered how humid it is in the summer and felt fine.

Jim's Pancakes
Silhouettes
Have you noticed the silhouette trend popping up everywhere?
I first saw it here on You Are My Fave, where Melanie made a silhouette family tree for mother's day.
Next I saw it here on Giver's Log, where Amberlee made this silhouette gift of her kids for their grandmother.
And since then its been everywhere. I think it is such a fun idea. A great way to make something personal, fun, easy and still chic. I'd like to say I'm going to try this immediately, but it will probably get put on the "After the wedding" list.

S'mores Brownies
I got a craving for s'mores about a week ago and IKF was kind enough to pick up the necessary acoutrements on his trip to the store that day.
Since then, every few days we've been making urban s'mores, warming the chocolate on a graham cracker in the microwave and then toasting the marshmallow over the stove burner. It doesn't have that campfire authenticity but its a decent stand in.
Today, however, I came across this recipe for s'more brownies, which I will definitely try out this weekend.
ps. Every time I make s'mores I start quoting the s'mores scene from The Sandlot to myself.... "First you take the graham... Then you put the chocolate on the graham... Then you take the mallow... And when the MALLOW is FLAMING..." Hee hee.
