Tony's Pizza Napoletana

If you do nothing else the next time you are in San Francisco, do the world a favor and get the Cal Italia pizza from Tony's Pizza Napoletana.

Asiago, Mozzarella, Imported Italian Gorgonzola, Sweet Fig preserve from Croatia, Prosciutto di Parma, Parmigiano, Balsamic Vinegar drizzle.

UNbelievable.

Ferry Building Marketplace

Now, I'd just like to say that there was more to this vacation than food, but Northern California is the mecca of the artisan food world and it would just be a crime not to take advantage of that.

Therefore, our first stop in San Francisco was the Ferrry Building Marketplace. It was kind of like Oxbow, except bigger and louder. And with macarons.

Husband and I were very impressed with the amazing selection and service at Cowgirl Creamery. We made some significant additions to our cheese stash and went home very very happy.

The other highlight of the Marketplace was Miette. I finally tried macarons and I was blown away. Soft yet crispy little magical bits of deliciousness. We tried pistacchio, chocolate lavender, vanilla and hazelnut.

Muir Woods

On the way from Santa Rosa to San Francisco, Husband and I took a side trip to Muir Woods.

We wandered around the paths and over the bridges for almost an hour. It was stunning - the towering redwoods, the bright green moss and ferns and the little brook.

The chance to hike through those mountains on a regular basis is a powerful enticement for moving to the Bay Area.

Hello San Francisco!

Well loves, Husband and I are off on our adventure in the north country!

(Actually, we left yesterday, but because of my magical-blog-time-traveling skills, this is appearing now.)

We haven't taken a real vacation since our honeymoon. We are going to practice the art of being cheese snobs, try this pizza restaurant and listent to my uber talented friend Michelle sing with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. (I know, she's unreal. I bask in her glow.)

I am, how do you say... EXCITED.

Can't wait to tell you all about it next week! What fun things are you doing this weekend?

Friends of the blogosphere... Husband and I are planning a little trip up the coast in a few weeks and plan to spend a day in Napa and a day in San Francisco. I trust you far more than I trust random tourist websites, what are your suggestions on places to eat or things to see in the City? Do you have a favorite sandwich cafe? Macaroon shop? Do you know where to find the best view in the city?

San Francisco

I'm running out of reasons not to spend every weekend in San Francisco...

HRH is moving there next week, Southwest has direct flights from Ontario to Oakland, and SF is like a mini NYC, so I get my metropolis fix! This plan is genius.

Sam's and Sourdough in San Francisco

...try and say that five times fast.

Yesterday I was in San Francisco for work, meeting with one of the members of our pilot group for The Black Boxes.
 
We had a great meeting and got a lot of good work done. And then for lunch, our client took us to one of the oldest restaurant's in San Francisco called Sam's. This place has been open since 1867.  That's a long time. That sourdough starter has been around for over a century... Think about that.

 I had forgotten how much I like San Francisco. Or maybe I just like it more now after living in NYC.
